From super-soft to ultra-firm, where do you lie on the mattress firmness scale?
”Firmness” dictates how hard or soft a mattress feels. It’s quite subjective, and the best firmness for you is really a matter of personal preference, but we can help you choose.
The difference between mattress firmness and support
A mattress that provides good support keeps your spine and neck in proper alignment without creating pressure points. If your mattress doesn’t support you well, you’re more likely to wake up with neck and/or back pain.
At Chiropedic, we’ve been making quality mattresses since 1991, and we understand both firmness and support. With over 200 different mattresses in our range and seven different levels of firmness, we’re confident we’ve got the mattress that’s just right for you.
All our products are certified Australian made from Australian products. That’s why we’re proud to stand by our mattresses with our a 7-day money-back guarantee, a 100 and 30 night trial and up to a 20-year warranty.
The best mattress firmness for you
So what is the best mattress firmness for you? There may not be universally agreed industry standards to define each mattress feel, but here’s a quick guide to help you determine which one may be best for your needs.
As a general rule:
- If you sleep on your back, a medium to firm mattress will provide the most comfortable support for your spine
- If you are a side sleeper, a medium mattress will provide the best support, with enough give to accommodate your hips
- If you sleep on your front, a firm mattress will be best for you.
These are the kind of mattresses that honestly feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud. The minute you lay down, you can feel your whole body softly becoming one with the mattress.
That’s why here at our factory in Braybrook, Melbourne, we make a wide range of quality soft mattresses.
If you’re after a really soft mattress, be sure to check out our award-winning Cloud Gel range, which boasts a 75mm layer of super-soft Cloud Gel, and our Eclipse Visco Soft mattresses with pressure-relieving Dunlop Visco Flex memory foam posture tops.
Medium feel mattresses are a great seller because some of us feel the “soft is too soft” and the “firm is too firm”. That doesn’t mean you are being picky, it just means you don’t want something too plush or something that you would compare to sleeping on the floor.
Our Yinahla Visco Flex range and our Elite Visco Medium mattresses based on our 5-zoned pocket spring system are two of our best medium sellers as they provide the perfect balance of comfort and support.
From that base medium feel, we also manufacture mattresses that are medium soft and medium firm. These feels can be very accommodating to our customers who are a bit more specific about the feel they are after.
The firm mattress feel also suits a wide range of consumers, especially those who sleep on their stomachs because they like the fact that a firm mattress keeps your spine aligned while you sleep.
A great example of a premium firm mattress is our Elite Latex Firm range.
For those who really like it firm, we also offer extra-firm and even ultra-firm mattresses. While they may not be most consumers’ favourite choice, you will be surprised at the well-founded support these mattresses can offer.
